One Piece Anime To Celebrate 25th Anniversary With A Special Episode Titled ‘ONE PIECE FAN LETTER’
To mark the 25th anniversary of the One Piece anime, a special episode titled ONE PIECE FAN LETTER will air on Oct 20 at 9:30 a.m. JST on Fuji TV.
This anniversary project is based on the short novel series One Piece novel Straw Hat Stories by Tomohito Ohsaki.
Set two years after the Summit War where Luffy lost his brother Ace, the story unfolds on the Sabaody Archipelago. A young girl who deeply admires Nami embarks on a small adventure. This is an ensemble drama that focuses on those who don’t “pursue” the One Piece, and depicts the Straw Hat Pirates’ reunion from their perspectives.
A PV and visual were revealed to commemorate the announcement.
The special is directed by Megumi Ishitani, who worked on episode 1015, which adapted the 1000th chapter of the manga, with Keisuke Mori serving as the character designer and animation director. The script is written by Momoka Toyoda, while Masahiro Tokuda composed an original score for the occasion.
The One Piece anime began airing on Oct. 20, 1999, nearly two years after the manga debuted. Since then, it has become one of the most iconic anime series in history establishing a legendary status for itself.
Since its premiere in Japan, 1120 episodes have been aired.
A remake of the anime by WIT Studio, titled THE ONE PIECEis currently under production. The staff members and first look of the anime was also revealed during the ONE PIECE DAY ’24 event.
